My rear roof air has stopped functioning. The fan runs, however when I place the thermostat to cool the compressor draws enough current to trip the 20 amp breaker at the generator. I pulled info from the net for diagnosis and have done some testing. I bypassed the start relay (purple and black wires) and it continues to trip the breaker at the generator. I guess I need to climb on top and check at the compressor next. Any suggestions?????

Yeap - your "hard start" capacitor has probably failed. It's easy enough to replace yourself if you have basic skills. Get the new one, turn the breaker for the a/c off, pull the shroud off  (up on the roof) and look for a part on the circuit board that looks like the new one. Should not need any soldering - they normally just clip into place.

Here is an article on this repair:

Tested all 3 caps and found that the start cap wouldn't store voltage. Ordered the hard start kit today from the local RV dealer. Should be here on Tuesday. I'll keep you posted.
