Class A Diesel Motorhome with Garage"
« on: October 09, 2009, 06:33:02 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I am new to the forum as well to the RV.  Can anyone advise me on what companies sell a Class A motorhome that has a 10 ' garage. I have heard of a company that makes one but with gas. I am looking to purchase something 38-44 '  to store my motorbike while we travel, and still have plenty of room inside.

Thank you.

Travel Supreme (no longer in business, but a great coach) made a mid-engine diesel pusher with a good sized garage. Look for a used 2004-2008 ME. I believe Newmar made a similar model on the same chassis, don't know the current status of it.

Maybe you can pull a trailer?  that is pretty expensive garage space...

I actually have a 20' X 8.6 twin axel trailer that I pulled with my Ford  Excurson. I have been doing a lot of research and yes you are right, for the money that it will cost me for a garage while having 30+ feet of living space will be expansive.  There are some pretty nice deals out there for a 40' a couple of years old with less than 10K miles on them.

I think my focus is now on a nice used 40' with 3-4 sides.

Thank you

You may want to check the webside of De Martini ""www.rvdiesels.com/", They have a2006 Monaco Dynasty with 14 K miles on assignment. It is equipped with a Hydraulic motor lift on which the owner stored his H.D, in addition he towed a SUV.

We have a Damon Outlaw (well, trading it in today actually). The Outlaw is available with a Gas or Front End Diesel. www.outlawrv.com. It is an awesome coach. Pay attention to the payload. If you are looking to haul a couple big street bikes, you will either need the Workhorse chassis or the FRED. The Ford chassis only has 1600 lbs capacity, while the others have 2000. Ours is the 8.1L Chevy on a Workhorse and we took a 2 HD big twin cruisers inside and another on a trailer with no problems. The other great thing with the Workhorse is the Allison tranny that has an engine brake that really helps slow the coach going down hills, the Ford doesn't have this. Unfortunately you will find many more Fords than Chevy's or FREDs because they are cheaper. Outside of that, they are all basically the same coach. If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me.

Oh, not sure where you are, but we are trading ours in at Grumbine's in Harrisburg, PA. Our coach is like new with about 12k miles.

I recently purchased a new 2007 Newmar All Star w/a mid engine diesel and it does have a "garage" in the rear stretching from one side to the other w/doors on either side. I am not so sure it has enough height for a motorcycle. It might be worth checking out though since I am not at the vehicle at this time to measure. I do know it is a huge area with the sliding tray that extends about 5 ft out from either side.

Must be hard to find a good campsite! In my area, city, county and state campsites over 36' are hard to come by, though private parks are no problem. Is that 47' a custom built MH? Thought manufacturers didn't go over 45' due to state and federal restrictions, or requirements...

yea, he had it all custom made and signed some waiver since 45ft is the max legal length of a rv (at least here in Ohio)

Even though it's 47ft long the interior is a lot smaller then my 38ft.  He has the 10-12ft car hauler area in the back & he losses a few feet up front with the freightliner front ends......

It's 2yrs old now & he has never used it... still hasn't even purchased the stuff to hook the rv up at campsites.....
