Is it a Well Done Marshmallow or Crispy 5th Wheel

We have been on the road for over two weeks now and "running" south from the snow (were in Moab area for the first time) we ended up in Gallop N.M. US RV Park for one night.  It was 30ish outside so we did not go out at midnight when the police and fire department came into the campground.  Indeed I put my good ear into the pillow  and continued to sleep.  Jo watched the goings on and finally heard a large truck coming in at 2:30am to remove the remains.

We drove around the campground on our way out in the morning.  This is what we saw.  I am sure the 5th wheel owner was not a happy camper.

What was it that burned, just a campfire?

It was a RV, I do not know the class.  No one was in it at the time.  Firemen break open the door.  The guy I talked to in the shower room said it "must of had a lot of fuel in the back end from the way it burned".  His rig was closer to it.  His dog woke him up when it first started.

Seems these kinda fires start around the propane tanks or connections or propane fuel appliances.
And then usually after some work had been done on the heater, water heater or gas refer.

At least the fires we've witnessed in the past had that scenario.

Having the kids familiar with the fire exits, and fire alarms in good working order is everything, and cheap insurance.

With the tan the 5th wheel got, he was darned lucky it didn't ignite.  His propane tanks were right there too.

It was snowing out and I was tired from the drive south trying to stay ahead of the snow.  I wish I could of gotten myself up at midnight when everything was taking place and gone out and seen it (and get some pictures). 

The INTERESTING thing was when we talked to the office manager the next morning was:

1.  The 5th wheel was not registered in the RV park
2.  The 5th wheel was not occupied (no hide nor hair of the owner).  Police were still trying to contact the owner the next day.

Yes, I was glad to have gotten to Gallop before the snow got bad.   It turned out that I-40 was closed from 6pm to 2am.  We could see all sorts of nasty tire marks on the x-way shoulders the next morning.  We got in at 8pm....just lucky.

Years ago when we were camp hosting on the Oregon Coast, BLM trainers warned us about meth labs in RV's sometimes being abandoned in campgrounds.  Could this be a possibility here?

There it is. Wouldn't doubt that.
Or a stolen "insurance job."

Had a nice couples ignite in the RV space next to us at Desert Rivera in Earp calif.
They had 5 kids that got out just in time.
Geezee it was sad.

The AAA insurance adjuster had a check in their hands by the end of the day, they had a new RV delivered the next day, the RV park lent them a rental free.

RV fires are very hard to put out.
They often burn inside the walls and ceiling and do they ever fill with smoke super fast.

An exit strategy is a sound routine to teach the family and their friends.
