A big thanks to Pancakebill for the link to the Photography On The Net forum. It didn't take long to find this great  Newbie Guide to Digital SLR Photography among other gems.

Thanks for that link, Tom. I bookmarked it. I got permission to buy our early Xmas present today, a Nikon D60 (which has been discontinued). I got the last one before she had a chance to change her mind.  :D We have a lot to learn.

Tom, you are welcome.  This is a great site.  Some really fantastic photographers there and lots of stickys to learn from. Careful, there is also attitude.  Critiques can be constructive and occasionally harsh.  Usually pretty fair though.
