Enclosed underbelly

Typical trailer furnace duct lays on top of the floor, behind cabinets and under soafas and such. The underbelly does not affect it much. The enclosed underpan keeps floors warmer/cooler with the season and protects water lines and tanks from freezng and road damage to some degree.  Also good if you travel on roads that have been salted over the winter (even it is is spring).
 
they are all enclosed to some extent, some with insulation some just covered with a woven plastic.

Yes you will get cold floors in cold weather without insulation. it's also harder to work on plumbing and ducts if the cover is more substantial.
 
Enclosed is better and if they're not insulated you can do it yourself. Harder to access if repairs need to be done but  the advantages outweigh this.
