2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee remote lock/unlock system

Over the last few months I have found that my transmitters receiver for locking and unlocking my doors is not functioning like it should.

First let me tell you I have changed the batteries in both transmitters and have traded my wife?s rarely used transmitter for mine.  Nothing has been changed or added inside the vehicle that would interfere with the receiver antenna.

My feeling is it must be in the receivers antenna wherever that might be.  Prior to this problem I could lock, unlock or push the panic button many feet from the vehicle.  Now the only place the transmitters will work is when I stand next to the front passenger door.

I am open to suggestions.
TIA,
Dick

Open up your transmitters. They contain a little chip that is removable. It  is in a socket base. This chip contains your unique vehicle code. Gently pull the chip out of the socket. Clean the copper contacts with a pencil eraser and spray contact cleaner in the socket. Chances are the contacts are dirty and corroded from carrying the remotes in your pocket.
