Have been thinking of going to Laughlin NV. in a couple of months.
would like opinions of the RV campgrounds there, which ones are good and which ones stay away from.  :)

Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort:  http://www.riversideresort.com/  (their web site appears to be down as I type).

It's been a couple of years, but we thought this was an OK park. Several forum members are headed there shortly to take advantage of a special they're running.

Laughlin is very RV friendly.  Most of the casinos have boondocking lots where you can stay for up to 14 days with their blessings.  This isn't putting your RV in a regular parking lot and hoping for the best, but separate areas dedicated to RV camping.  No hookups but the price is right (free).  You just have to register with security inside the casino when you arrive.

If you're there during hot weather and need hookups, the Riverside Resort RV Park is by far the nicest.

We always stay at the Riverside.  It's terraced going up the hill so many sites have good views of the Colorado River and across to the Arizona side.  I don't know of any other "real" ones with full hookups in Laughlin.  The Ari is too far out of town to be convenient.

I'm not so sure about that.  Used to be, but someone in Clark County got on them a couple of years ago about people living in their parking lots.  Don't know how or if the issue got resolved, but I wouldn't expect it to be as wide open as it once was.  If someone has been there recently it would be useful to know if "no overnight parking" signs have appeared at the casinos.  That's what they were planning to do, but whether they actually went that far I don't know.

But not very doggy friendly. Not many good places left to let a couple of doggies run around loose in Laughlin any more. Too much concrete and pavement these days in the casino area, but at least there's some desert left near Avi, the last time we were there (many years ago).

My trek back to NCal always includes a stay in Laughlin. The signs have been there for years, Ardra. According to one security guard I chatted with, the signs give them the OK to toss someone out that does not play by the parking lot boondocking rules. Those mostly deal with keeping the lot clean, and settling down for too long.

The Riverside is also my park of choice, though there are many options. Bullhead City across the bridge has quite a few nice parks -- some very close to crossing back over to Laughlin.

Have attached an image taken the last time I parked on the top tier. Hard to find a better view in an RV park . . .  :)

Just curious which parks they are Bob. When we stayed at Laughlin, several other RVers and forum members congregated for the New Year, and we also met up with mutual friends who live about as high as you can go in Bullhead City.

Stayed at a state CG right on the river, just to the north side of the bridge.  Not the nicest place, but suitable and right close to everything.

It's water under the bridge (so to speak).  The casino owners lobbied hard for the RVers, and the settlement consisted of imposing a two week limit and having the RVs register with the casino when they arrive.  The casino then gives the RVers a copy of the rules including the location of approved dump stations.  The same information is posted in each of the boondocking lots.

In other words, it worked out well for everyone.  The health department's concern about illegal dumping was addressed, the property owners know who's there and how long they've been there and can address abuses as necessary.  And we continue to be able to benefit from the casino's hospitality.

We've stayed at both the Riverside and the Avi. Avi has a nice buffet with discounts for seniors and veterans but I wasn't thrilled with the campground and ran into lots of loose rez dogs while walking Sam. Riverside has nice views and ok places to walk the dog and closer access to parks and the river. Visited the county park but didn't stay there....looked nice. We did check out all the parks on the Bullhead City side of the river but that was back when we had an older Class C and most of them had a "no RV over 10-years-old" rule which eliminated us. We have also stayed in casino parking lots there when the weather wasn't too hot.

Isn't it nice to have choices?

That was were my RV got stuck in the sand and had to be towed out! First time I was ever stuck in the sand in a full hookup RV Park!

I've never been stuck even at the beach, next time jack up your coach put your leveling boards under the rear wheels and drive out.

Wendy If we stayed at the AVI and wanted to go downtown to the other Hotel/Casino's
is there a shuttle bus or tram you can take downtown?
I guess the AVI is a little ways away from the rest of them, from what I've heard it's about 10 or 11 miles away, that's quite a ways, don't want to be stuck not being able to go check out the other places around there.  :)

Lou - Thanks for updating the situation with Clark County Health Dept.  I'm glad it did work out for everyone involved.

You could also check into DAVIS CAMP....across the bridge on the Arizona side....I believe it is county owned...have stayed there several times....some nice sites, some closer to the 'permanent residents' type of set up....also, along the Colorado river at Davis Camp are 'dry' sites which are very nice but no hookups.
Worth looking into for you....about a 5 minute drive from Davis Camp to Riverside RV park..to give you an idea how close it really is....Have fun.

Avi's about 10 miles from Laughlin and if you want to go visit the casinos in Laughlin, you have to get there yourself. If you're at Riverside in Laughlin, you can walk to other casinos or take the shuttle boats that run up and down the river (small fee). When we stayed at Avi, there was a show/sale/flea market of some kind going on and RVs were crammed into the campground....very narrow sites. I much prefer Riverside.
