I just bought a 1986 Shasta Class C MH and have noticed that the monitor panel for the Fresh, Grey and Black Water levels is not working anymore...before I take it to Camping World to have them look at it, what are some suggesitons? Fuses blown maybe?

on the same panel, the switch for the battery and LP work fine and the switch for turning on the water pump also work fine....

I had to replace a diode on mine (01 Tahoe), it was a fairly common OEM provider but darned if I can remember the name now.  See if you can find a circuit diagram and start troubleshooting.

yikes, that's way more than I want to handle

can't I just buy a new panel? or do I need a new Seelevel system?

I re-soldered the boards on mine and it was like new again. Solder gets "cold" and cracks which leads to false contact therefore the switches and LED's failing. Mine is a 1988 Elandan almost as old as yours.

I was told by a very good r v repair man that if you would clean the tanks, leave the valves open with cap off to dry the tanks thoroughly. to dry the sensors may do the trick.

I had the converter in my TT go out which sent a voltage surge throughout the trailer. One of the items that took a hit was the monitoring panel. I took the panel apart and discovered a blown up capacitor, and a trace on the board was toasted. I Google'd the manufacturer and ordered a replacement board for something like $15.

I would check the fuses as advised if nothing bad is found, then I would remove the monitor panel and inspect it. Possibly you can find something visually wrong to account for it not working.

I assure you that Camping World would charge more than $15 to diagnose it. Not slamming them, just saying that you can get some great advice and help here free for the asking.  :)

Keep us posted and Good Luck!

can I just buy a new Monitor and rewire it in using the existing hardware (other than the old panel)?
do they sell universal monitor's?

I would think that if you know the wiring of the current system, then you could install a new one.
If you could get just the printed circuit board for your existing system, it'd be a plug and play ordeal, that should take no more than 15 minutes.

Adding to V2Neal reply that helped me identify the problem on the terminal block side...even though this is an old posting previously, maybe my troubleshooting notes could help someone else with similar issue that i found.....

This is an old post but adding what i found on mine -similiar issue with monitor panel not working correctly (i.e. battery, water levels, etc) And no lights on water pump, or electric water heater switches.... For me had checked all fuses good, good voltages at terminal blocks, -where fuses are all good 12V on terminal block side, however little to no volts on actual Water Pump connection (<2V DC) and also same on the monitor panel switch side -(only 6V there)...

After long troubleshooting, I found the actual wire that connects under a screw in the terminal block -looked connected, but upon close inspection, and slight tug on the wire -showed that it was actually a broken connection for the water pump. The wire had broken off from the original. I suspect that the original installer cut thru-most-of-the wires when they stripped them and that was why there were strand of wires left under the screw and exposed on the left side of the block, and on the right side there was a barely a single strand of wire barely making a connection, ... (was only a matter of time and road vibration) for it to break off. Only thing left on right side was wire With Insulation..so I used my wire strippers and stripped off a fresh 1/4" off the insulation and cleared the old wires out of the terminal block. Put in the new wire using a needl-nose pliers, screwed down the regular screw on the terminal block, measured voltages and all connections to pump and switch showed 12V!

Turned on pump switch and it works! AND All the panel monitor lights work correctly now! Before they just flash strobed for a sec then died whenever the voltage was off due to a bad connection on the water pump wire on the actual terminal block that is where the fuse panel is located. Hope this helps someone out there to help troubleshoot..took me a few hours to find. Thank the Lord! Now our camper is winterized for 2018!!!
