I have a Generac Q55G generator in my RV and I have two problems. I have no operators manual and I would like to use synthetic oil in the engine. Has anyone had any experience with that?

Now is there not a difference for diesel generators. Do you use diesel oil in a diesel generator??

I use Shell Rotella T in lots of our vehicles, especially diesels and motorcycles.  They came out with a full synthetic recently, about $10 more per gallon; and, compared to the oil with a motorcycle manufacturer's label on it, it is still very economical.  The motorcycles with a wet clutch cannot use car oil because of the additives.  The new cars call for a 5W20 though so I can't use it there.  Seems like it would be fine for a generator, diesel or gas.

I have a Generac also. Have used synthetic oil for 6 years with no problems. Over 650 hours with no problems at all. Runs great!

Here is a link with info on parts, manuals and diagnostics.
