Can I use Synthetic oil in my generator?

I put Mobil 1 10w-30 synthetic to my Onan and it purrs smooth! ;D

No reason not to. Synthetic meets the specs for 10w-30 just like dino oils.

Now is there not a difference for diesel generators. Do you use diesel oil in a diesel generator??

Diesel engines diesel spec oil, i.e the CG-4 spec for lubricating oils. That's different than the API spec for gas engines.

I use Shell Rotella T in lots of our vehicles, especially diesels and motorcycles. They came out with a full synthetic recently, about $10 more per gallon; and, compared to the oil with a motorcycle manufacturer's label on it, it is still very economical. The motorcycles with a wet clutch cannot use car oil because of the additives. The new cars call for a 5W20 though so I can't use it there. Seems like it would be fine for a generator, diesel or gas.

I have a Generac also. Have used synthetic oil for 6 years with no problems. Over 650 hours with no problems at all. Runs great!
