I'm looking for campgrounds where each individual site is carved out of the woods, giving a more secluded feeling. We once were at Mirror Lake State Park in Wisconsin and the sites were like this, and it gave a nice feeling of solitude, unlike most side-by-side-by-side-by-side-by-... you know what I mean. Does anyone know of any like this? Electricity and the ability to house a 33' TT and tow vehicle are my main requirements. I'm in NW Ohio, so the closer the better, but anything within a day's drive would work fine.

Hello Matt:

Turkey Run State Park in southern Indiana comes close to your requirement.  It has hand full of sites that are separated from their neighbor by space and trees.  But even these do not block your view or the neighbor.  The majority of the sites do not meet this criteria, so careful selection at the time of making a reservation would be important.

Punderon State Park in Ohio has selected sites, they have pictures on their website http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/parks/parks/punderson/tabid/780/Default.aspx  that can be reviewed for the most desirable site.

In the Traverse City area there is a private campground that has some back in sites that are surrounded by trees. They have full hookups, cable TV, wi-fi, lake, etc. We stayed there in June and it is pretty well located for the Traverse City stuff (wineries, golf, lighthouses, quaint  ::) villages, etc). The name of the place is Holiday Park. http://www.michcampgrounds.com/holidaypark/. There are about three parks that I know of in the Door Peninsula in Wisconsin that have nice tree surrounded lots too. You would need to google those (door county Rv parks).
