We talked to Pat Dick a few minutes ago. Jim had just come out of surgery and the doc says he is fine, but Pat hasn't seen him yet. They removed a gastrinoma, which is a type of tumor that secretes large amounts of gastrin and thus causes other intestinal problems. They also fixed a hernia while they were in there.  Pat says he will be in the hospital 3-4 days and at-home recovery will take 3-4 months.

I post a further update when I have more info.

Glad to hear that's finished and was successful.  When you talk to Pat tell her we both say hello and to crack the whip over her Navy guy to make sure he does what he's s'posed to do!  Thanks for letting us know, Gary.

We are glad to hear the surgery was successful and wish for a speedy recovery.  We hope this does not interfer with the summers plans as we are looking forward to seeing Pat and Jim in our home country.

Please let them know we are thinking of them.

Glad to hear everything "came out" ok. Now he just needs to behave and recover so they can hit the road, if not this summer, then next summer !

Gary -- Is Jim in Parish Hospital in Titusville or Weusthoff Hospital in Rockledge?

I think he plans to wait til he gets back home to get back online. Assuming it is only a couple days (as planned). But if he is feeling good, he may ask Pat to bring it to him.

We hope to hear more from Pat later today, but we are going to be out & about and might not post any new news until this evening.

On his thread he said the operation would be at Parish in Titusville. It was good to hear that everything was successful. Now the long recovery period.

Talked to Pat again today and she was at the hospital. Yes, Jim is at Parish Hospital in Titusville. No laptop, at least not yet.  Jim is a bit tired but able to hobble around on his own in the hospital room.

We wish Jim a speeeedy recovery so he and Pat can get back to the things they have planned.

Get well soooon, Jim

:) !

Pat says Jim can get up and walk around a bit and can take nourishment, though he is still on a liquid diet. Doc may let him go home Sunday or Monday, but it's "wait and see" as opposed to "you will go home on xxx".

The best news is that the lab reports the tumor was benign.

That is great news about the tumor!

As to the liquid diet:  SUCK IT UP Jim,  you can survive without peanuts to go with your scotch.

What wonderful news!  Glad to hear all is well and that you'll soon be on the mend Jim!  I took your advice earlier and everything checked out OK.  Thank you.

Shirley
