"Cabin" Filters?
« on: May 10, 2010, 12:11:12 AM »
Does anyone know if the dash A/C has a filter buried anywhere?

Jeff - don't think the Freightliner chassis as built for Winnebago does.

None in any Freightliner RV chassis that I'm aware of, Jeff. They do have them in some of the Class 8 trucks, though. I suspect it is something the cab designer adds in, rather than a chassis feature. The chassis comes with the basic a/c compressor components but the body builder adds most of the air distribution system, fans, dash controls, etc.

Most of the RV dash air systemms I know about do not have filters.  You might check with Evan Tempcon as they produce many of the HVAC systems that are installed in MHs. I do not know if they make the one s for Winnebago.  You might check with their service number and see.

I found a thin electrostatic filter like is used in some home air conditioners and house systems.  It is about 1/4" thick and is washable.  I cut pieces to cover the air inlets located in the area in front of the dash bulkhead.  I attached them with small mirror clips and usually wash them about once a year.  It seems to help some but I do recognize that they do not filter all that I would like removed.

Thanks, that's kind of what I suspected. The thought leaked out when I found that the CRV has one behind the glove box. Figured I'd check on this one
