When traveling down the road with the generator running, both the converter/charger and the engine alternator is charging the house batteries, according to the operators manual.

Is there some type of diode arrangement or something. Can't tell much on the Winnebago wiring diagrams.

Just curious.
 
When driving down the road only the alternator is charging. The battery isolation solenoid allows both batteries to charge by closing. The converter doesn't put out any voltage because there is no shore power.
 
A little elaboration on what John said - Winnebago uses a continuous duty solenoid that serves two purposes.
First it connects the house batteries and the engine battery together when you press the "Aux Start - MOM) switch.
Second it connects them when the ignition switch "run" terminal has power.

If the generator is running so is the converter. The converter is putting out about 13.5 volts and the generator about 14.5 so there must be something in the converter to prevent any reverse flow.

This is getting a little confusing with "terminology." With the engine running there could be two sources of battery charging. With only the engine running, the engine alternator is charging both batteries. With the engine running and the genset also running, there are two sources of battery charging, the engine alternator and the genset feeding AC to the converter which then produces 12 volts DC to the batteries. With the engine running, the battery isolation solenoid connects the chassis and house battery banks to both charging sources. Both the alternator via the voltage regulator and the converter via internal electronics will adjust the output voltage to suit the state of the battery charge state.
 
Yea, that's sort of what I thought, that there had to be some kind of isolater somewhere, bet none of my Winnebago manuals mention it.

And yes I was talking about with both running.
