My family and I are taking a trip to Wisconsin in out "RV" in September. I say "RV" because it is a makeshift self conversion with a 2001 Chevy Venture. Everything we NEED is set, except the need for an electical hook up. We really only need this hook up for a small box fan to be connected to. I thought I would look at some RV parks, but the prices seem kind of high for one night. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on cheaper places to park for the night with an electrical hook up or any other little tid bits that might make it easier for us.

Thanks!

The electrical hookup is a problem, otherwise I would suggest Wal-Mart.    We have a score of theads on Wal Mart overnighting, just search on "Wal Mart".

We have a small (12 x 12 ) fan that runs on D cells, built-in rechargeables, or AC which we purchased at WalMart.  Perhaps something like this would negate your electric hook-up requirement.  With a small inverter you could charge the batts as you drive to the next stop.

How cheap do you need it to be? $10? $20? A Passport America membership will get you into many parks at half price, which would typically be $10-$15 for water & electric hook-ups.

Or just look for older, less attractive parks. They often have sites in the $10-$15 range.

Agree with Gary, ask if you could park in a tent site. They usually have an electrical outlet.

A night or two ?  We had looked at the Oneida Casino accomodations a little while ago on the way home.  They have a tree lined street on the NW corner of the complex,  which has room for a dozen or so full size MH (I didnt actually count them)  and more than a few electrical hookups-- Free , but they ask you to stop in and ask the staff about getting a "fun pass"  (also free) .  they do have a few picnic tables set up,  and a concrete bunker for disposing hot charcoals.  If that area is filled,  parking on the SW  corner where the tour busses park is also free.  No hookups there.
Here is a link to "casino camping"  by states.  (I think this link is the Wisc. page of the site)

thanks fo all the replies. All were helpful. One question though being a newbie: how does an inverter work and how would i make it recharge a fan?
