I noticed a thread on another forum re: reducing noise from a water pump.  Mine is not that irritating but wouldn't mind it being less obnoxious, especially during middle of the night potty breaks when not hooked up to shore water;D.  Does the water pump generate a lot of heat that would preclude wrapping or insulating it in some manner???  Thanks for insights and recommendations.

Most of the noise from the water pump is vibration transmitted through the structure of the RV.  If the pump doesn't have them, use rubber grommets as shock mounts between the pump mounting feet and the floor or wall it's mounted on.  If it's connected directly to the PEX or PVC pipe, put a short length of rubber tubing between the pump and the piping on both inlet and outlet.  That should get rid of most of the noise.  Also, some pump models are just noisier than others.

If there is room, you could add an accumulator on the outlet side so the pump doesn't run as often when using the water.

Adding to Ned's response, we have an illustrated article in our forum library showing what one forum member did to fix a noisy water pump.

Do not wrap any of the modern electronic controlled pumps in insulation - they shed a lot of heat. The pumps with mechanical pressure switches are less hot, but will still generate heat if they run for a longish time. Like during a shower maybe?

As Ned says, it's not the motor noise anyway.
