The beginning Van conversion

I'm starting to convert a 1973 (1 ton) Chevrolet-  J.B.E. Olson (Grumman?) Van- to our (Her) RV. so I'll have many questions to ask!
I guess I better start with a few beginning questions.
Does anyone--
Know of a repair manual for the van? if not, can tell me how to adjust or repair the sliding door ?
Know how to identify the type of 1 ton chassis. (from what I have read there is more than one.) so I can order a manual for it.

Know what kind or can suggest a external sealer that can be used on the seams where the body panels are riveted together

I guess these questions will do for now
Hopefully someone can help.

Welcome to the RV Forum.  Sounds like an interesting restoration-conversion.  Not sure, I am thinking you are talking about the square box aluminum step up van (similar to the "old" milk delivery trucks?).  Posting photo's always helps.

Yep, it's a step van, I don't have any pictures yet but will post some in the future!
 
Nothing like metal instead of fiberglass.  I have often thought that the van you are converting-the newer  post office trucks, mpv,lpv?? AND, don't laugh, the short  body school buses would make very sturdy rv's-please post your progress I am very interested in seeing how things go.

Check these out, a caution on the Lexel sealant, it is tenacious-very difficult to remove if applied correctly to any surface including fiberglass
