For years we've stopped to overnight in Beatty (pronounced Bay-dee by Nevadans) at the El Burro campground.  The adjacent motel was renovated about two years ago.  As we were driving into town today we wondered if we would find a renovated campground as well.  Imagine our surprise when we saw huge signs advertising "New RV Park with 50 amp".  Lo and behold when we arrived we found a much improved RV park.  El Burro is gone and it is now called the Death Valley Inn RV Park.  [The name Beatty RV Park was taken by one of the other places in town.]  It was re-leveled and all the sites have been upgraded.  Previously we would go around to find an electric box that was functioning before pulling into a space and they were mainly 30 amp.  There's now an onsite campground manager who came out to tell us the best way to approach the pull-through sites.

The Death Valley Inn RV Park amenities now include Cable TV, a swimming pool (at the inn next door), showers, laundromat, new 50-amp electric boxes at every site, all pull-through sites, and a Jacuzzi (haven't seen it, probably at the pool).  The showers have a keypad lock.  The place is still dirt but looks ever so much better.  The trees are small and the branches have been trimmed to avoid scratching RVs.  The tent sites that used to back up to the motel are gone and have been replaced with a retaining wall and landscaping.  Verizon is the only cell service in Beatty.  And it's satellite friendly so what more could we want?

Of course, with all the changes, it's no longer $10 or $15.  We paid $27.26.  The address is 300 S. Hwy. 95, Beatty NV 89003.  Telephone 775-553-9702.

The Burro bar and restaurant was one of the favorite places for NPS rangers/spouses to hang out. Glad to hear they re-did the campground.

Jerry had a chance to check out the restrooms and laundry this morning and reported that both are very nice, clean, and modern.  The laundry has all new equipment.  They're in two small buildings at the front of the property nearest the road.  They're Spanish style and look very nice.  I also checked the hookups this morning.  All the sewer connections are new, water faucets are new, electric connections are new and seemed to be good, and there's a nice little CATV cover on the electrical post so you don't have to look for it.

The Death Valley Inn RV Park also has a dump station.  The sign indicated $5 to dump for non-campers.

The same guy who owns the Stagecoach Casino and Motel and Eddie World owns it. It looked really nice when we were down on Memorial day weekend.  We always stay at Baileys Hot Springs, 30 Amp and water but no dump unless you stay for a month ( bad drainage for septic). We really like to soak in the hot water. :)

We noticed the hot springs place is for sale when we passed it.
