We have friends here in the UK also full timing like ourselves who own a 2005 Damon Challenger the same as this one......

Can any Rvforum member give the Manufacturer and model for the headlights on this Damon? Our friends have emailed Damon several times for help and have yet to receive a reply let alone the answer to this question.

Also any Damon or Challenger owners clubs that they could join for help and advice.

Thanks Mick

Mick,

FWIW that link has restricted access.

If you don't receive other responses, your friends could try some of the places on our Parts and salvage list; Click the Resources button above and scroll down.

Hi Tom, I don't understand why as its just a 'normal' web page picture of the front of a Damon Challenger...........I have added the picture via your additional options, hope the picture enlarges enough to see the type of lights fitted?

I have also checked out your Parts & Salvage list.........long isn't it any one care to suggest one that specialises in Damon parts?

I'm sure that if someone know who Damon used for their headlights my friend can easily obtain what he requires. Our Fleetwood Discovery for example uses Ford F- 450 pick up head /turn and parking lights. :)

Mick, it returns a 409 error:

I wouldn't have a clue, because it's highly unlikely any salvage place would specialize in one brand of RV. Easy enough to eliminate some from the list though e.g. trailer parts guys, wiper manufacturers, hardware stores, bus parts, etc.

I'm sure that if someone know who Damon used for their headlights my friend can easily obtain what he requires.

We have a few Damon owners, so hopefully one will reply. However, I wouldn't put any money on the headlamp manufacturers being the same between different models or between different years of the same model.

Damon bought those lights somewhere - nobody has light assemblies custom made for motorhomes. Far too expensive for the low volume.

Need to know the year and model of the Damon - they aren't all the same.  And check the light assembly itself for part number and manufacturer name. It probably won't be "Ford", or "Chrysler", but it might identify the vendor who made it for one of them.

Hi Gary,

I don't know how well you can down load the attached picture, that Damon Challenger is exactly the same as our friends and was British registered as a 2005 model so it could be a 2004 build.

If you look at the picture you can clearly see on the LARGE inner headlamps circular rings around the lamps which hold the sealed beam units to the RV's body work.

On our friends RV one of these securing rings have split and he has been told that it cannot be repaired by brazing or welding.

We were very lucky having spent nearly two years in the US & Canada, this enabled me to see all Makes, Models and ages of American vehicles and pick out which  parts Fleetwood used when they built the Discovery RV that we bought.

One item very important we had to change were the front side/parking lights from US to UK or amber to white.

I saw that the Ford F- series super cab pick-up was fitted with the same headlamp/ turn signal / park lamp as our Discovery, so I could easily convert our RV. :)

I can see it, but don't have a clue what vehicle they might have come from. Those are pretty generic - no styling clues to help out.

Would he be willing to place an international call to Damon?

I don't know if this will help on the headlight ring, but if you have to replace a tail light or turn signal lens, look for the SAE registration number.

You can then use that number to find a replacement.  In my case, my 1995 Damon Intruder tail lights were also used on that year's Ford Bronco.

If you can't get an answer from Damon, call a dealer and see if he can make the inquiry for you.  Sometimes manufacturers reluctant to deal with an individual due to the multitude of product liability and consumer protection laws in the U.S.

Thanks guys, will pass all your ideas over to our friends.

For the record, I have lost count how many times I have suggested he joins this forum, I tell any Brit who owns an RV that if they were to only join one forum it should be this one, why?  well when talking American RV's if you guy's over there cannot answer questions on the vehicles YOU make then we have no chance over here.

Mick  :)

Mick,

Let your friends know there are both Brits and ex pats here, if that makes them feel any better. OTOH they might never come here if they know there's a Taff here  ;D

BTW congrats (or should that be commiserations?) on stepping up to the plate with RVF. Don't get over there very much, but do pop in occasionally.

Tom,

Every time I remind our friends about joining RVforum I normally pass on a load of other information which no doubt overloads them ( well they are Southerners)  ;D

Regarding taking over the forum RV Fulltiming, thanks for your congrats,  that was an easy decision, Jim the founder had put to much hard work and information into the forum to let it go.

LOL Mick, I hope that means south of England, not the other side of the Severn estuary  ;D
