Not a typo. We left home around noon and, after a stop to get a Norcold recall fix, we're camped at Terribles Gold Ranch RV Resort in Verdi, NV. We're a short distance west of Reno on I-80, close to the Trukee River. I have my fishing tackle and fly tying gear packed. I learned there's a Cabellas one exit along the freeway, so I'll visit tomorrow to get my NV fishing license and get a fly shop fix.

Nice long pull-throughs, albeit a little narrow. Full hookups, including 20/30/50A electricity and cable. Check-in was one of the most pleasant experiences I can recall in 25 years of RVing. With windows open, we can hear freeway traffic on one side of the coach. They called me back when I left a message around 5.00pm explaining we might arrive after hours; They said "we'll still be here when you arrive".

Wifi is available for an extra charge, but my VZW USB card has a good signal. Haven't yet checked out the T-mobile USB "Rocket".

We received coupons for the restaurant and the casino at check-in, and more are available if/when we sign up for players cards.

Since we have our daughter and a couple of grandkids visiting and  staying overnight tomorrow, Chris checked out the pool area and gave a  thumbs up.

Tom, while I was at South Lake Tahoe, the couple I was working with took me to the university on Northshore. There is a building there that researches the lake and they give a very infomative talk about it. FYI

Thanks Ernie. Not sure we'll get over to Tahoe this trip, but I'll add it to my list of must-do's for next time we're there.

Be sure you sign up for the frequent players card and turn in your receipts for points. You can get some really good deals. We ate a lot of free meals at the Terribles in Pahrump off our points. If only they'd bring back the free night for gas purchases...now that was a deal !

Relax and enjoy yourselves.

We stayed at Terrible's Lakeside Casino at Osceola, Iowa a few weeks ago.  It used to be that with a players card they would give you $15 to play on if you stayed in the RV park.  Now they do nothing, no discount or anything.

The camp sites have full hook-ups, nice concrete pads, and they are plenty large.

George - Do they still give points for every dollar you spend? In Pahrump, we got more than one meal from the points we spent in the RV park and at the gas station.

We stayed at that Terribles' in the Spring of 2009, the first park we visited after we bought our coach. Nice park as you describe. The RV Park service was excellent, although restaurant food and service weren't anything to write home about. The clerk welcomed us although we were late (and had called). Since we were new and looking for the next park down the road, she even gave us her just-replaced copy of the Trailer Life directory.

As it happened, we were parked on Desert Rose street. After we parked the coach for the first time ever and walked toward the restaurant, we looked back and saw the street sign, "Desert Rose," next to the coach. Country Coach called our interior design "Desert Rose." So, our coach became named Rose.

As with most casinos, points are earned gambling.  I don't know if you get points for purchases in the restaurant or not.  The gas station is not theirs.

Is anybody familiar with Maid Rites?  They are a wonderful ground beef sandwich.  There is a Maid Rite shop in the gas station.  We have to stop anytime we are passing.

Terrible's in Pahrump gives points for money spent at the RV park and at the restaurant, as well as gambling. They own the gas station there so you also get points when buying gas and propane. Those gas points can really add up !

Last summer I "left" Sheila at Terribles while I flew back to work for a week. It was a niece park and not too far for her to visit her nice in Truckee - would have been great for that if I80 was under construction.
