Just got back from 4 days at Yuma, Colorado. Old Threshers Days, this one the 30 year marker, is every September. There are many old time Pioneer Museums around the country but Yuma does it different. The Pioneer town is open for business (just like 100 years ago) and all of the old farm equipment, (horse drawn, oxen, steam Power and old tractors) are actually in use as they were intended to be.
Admission is free. There is a 20 acre open parking area for RVs and campers, plus plenty of auto parking space. RV's need to be self contained since there is no hookups at the park.
If you are intersted to see how the pioneers really lived and worked, go to Yuma the second week of September nest year.
Wheat threshing, sawmill, feed grinding, corn shelling, plowing, hay baling, road grading, swathing, etc., all with horses, oxen and old-time power units. And the food is good in the country kitchen. On Main street, the old Conoco Gas Station, (next to the Blacksmith Shop) posted gas for 19.9 cents. The blacksmith was shoeing a horse while we watched at one time. I shoe my own horses on the ranch so was able to give him a thumbs up.
