hi All
Just a quick update. After the non stop fiasco's of the first month.. things have settled down and gotten much better. Month two had a few minor problems, most of which were self induced. We thought that the fan motor in the furnace was faulty as it would not quit running, causing the house batteries to go dead. Turns out that the problem was a result of an extra piece of carpet being loose laid over the existing carpet, thus blocking 2 heat registers..see Tech Talk - Fan motor keeps running. A few other minor problems, but nothing serious. Month 3 of being a Class A owner has been the best by far. We decided to take a chance and do a 2000 mile tour around Lake Superior, and parts of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. It was worth every bit of aggravation and grief that we encountered in Month 1. We caught the fall colors pretty much at their peak and the scenery around the Great Lakes is just awesome. The Vectra ran like a swiss watch and never missed a beat. Fuel mileage ran from a low of 7.9 miles per Canadian gallon to a high of 9.4 miles per Canadian gallon.  The only problem encountered was the right wiper arm. The secondary arm that keeps the wiper blade in a vertical position, came apart at the pivot. The threaded portion of the pivot, actually broke off flush with top of the secondary arm, allowing the wiper blade to flop all over the place. During a downpour in Duluth Minn. a quick fix had to be found. Normally a nut holds the secondary arm on the pivot point but with no threads left on the pivot some improvising was required. Believe it or not, I was able to keep the secondary arm functioning by attaching it to the main wiper arm with 3 plastic tie wraps, LOL. This fix got us thru Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ontario. Once home I was able to drill a 1/8" hole in the center of the pivot, and re-attach the arm with self tapping screw and two brass washers. All is well again. The trip was so enjoyable, I can't wait for some more Holidays.

Glad to hear it Jim!  They all just need a little "extermination" of the bugs and then you get to enjoy those days when she purrs like a kitten and takes you to all those great spots.  It's kind of like getting frustrated at your golf game for 17 holes and then hitting one on the screws off the tee on 18... it makes us forget the frustrating part and keeps us coming back.  :)

Have fun....

Where do you buy those Canadian gallons??  heh, heh!!!!

(For those who might be curious, an Imperial gallon ( the former Canadian Standard) contains 160 liquid ounces as opposed to a US gallon that contains 128 ounces.)

Glad your trip went so well!!!
