Just returned from a weekend trip to Collins Lake about a half hour northeast of Marysville, in Oregon House, CA. Caught a nice stringer of trout, largest about 2 1/2 pounds trolling nightcrawlers behind flashers. Collins is known for some nice sized fish and are currently doing a fall planting. Now that the weather has cooled off, the fish are at the surface in the early morning, then move down to about 10 feet. Last Saturday was a beautiful day on the lake, although we were taking the boat out of the water Sunday in the rain. They have a nice campground with water and electric hook-ups, but we usually boondock there where you can set up almost right next to the lake down by the dam. They are also known for their great ice cream cones at their store. http://www.collinslake.com/
