  • Pro rodeo ace George Akers roping a steer.
  • Ron applies some WiFi spray to spread the networking around. (It worked!)

Great picks Tom. Just a note to let you all know how much I enjoyed the company these few days at the Q.  Sorry we had to leave before much of the action takes place.  However, the wife is a country girl, just not that country, according to her.  We got about 20 miles from our turn off and darned if she didn't say  Really a  lot of nice people there and we could have stayed a couple more days.  Women   I'll never understand, especially this one. If you don't believe me, ask Smoky and the Admiral. It certainly was a pleasure meeting everyone and conversing with the same.  Wish the wife would have been able to produce more of her floured creations instead of just a couple.  Maybe next year.   As on now she says no but the way she changes her mind, who knows.  After all she said she hated Arizona and 5 days later she bought a house to be built.  Like I says who knows, we'll probably be there, it's just all knew to her.    Again thanks to all for making my time at the Q a very memorable one and the knowledge of meeting very nice people.

Again thanks to Ron , Tom and Betty for the kind words.  even the wife now is saying she had a good time. She mainly doesn't like the wind, she's very susceptible to sore throats, so I do understand her fears.  Good combination she all bundled up and me running around in shorts and T-shirts at 30 degree weather. As for as the trailer is concerned, I'm just sorry I failed to fully equip it, but believe me it will be properly arranged next year.  The surrey got it's work out today doing running to take care of details for the new house and getting setup again for  the next 2 months here. We hope to be able to drive in on Saturday and get together 1 more time this year.  So what time is the pot luck?  Again thanks for the great time.  Great seeing the pics.

FYI when the rally is over, I'll get higher resolution versions of photos into our photo gallery. Meanwhile, if you haven't visited the gallery to see photos of prior rallies & events and some Framily members' trips, click the Photos button above. We even have a few photos from the 1995 rally in Plymouth, CA.

If anyone has any unseen photos from any RV Forum rallies (digital or film), I'd very much like to see them.

TIA

Gee, got them both wrong

1: That is Donna (Judy's friend) not Judy looking as I watch the MotoSat guy look at my Automotion antenna
(Which needs to be swapped for the new one)

2: That's Ron and the MotoSat guy as I check the fit of the Bird on the Wire, I attched it about an hour later
and it's not yet hooked up.. .I'll finish downloading (instructions) and setting it up later tonight/tomorrow

Darm, I'm missing out on all the fun.   Hope to make it back Sat but I doubt it.  You know who is stopping me.  The Boss (Audrey) says I just make a fool of her, when I run around half dressed.   Been doing that for 70 yrs and now it bothers her.  Go figure. Yep, Smoky we miss you guys too and I'm waiting for you to get those darn lessons and come back here and see how good you got.  Taking my 12 yr old GrSon out next weekend for his 1st fling on a golf course.   HAVE FUN EVERYONE AND KEEP IN TOUCH. Thanks again for the great time with all you good folks.  I certainly learned what Framily is.  HEck I'm still wearing my (Damn) name tag.  Scared to take it off.

Glad you're enjoying them Steve. I agree that the desert can get old. We wouldn't be here if it weren't for the wonderful group of folks here at the rally.

While Wendy & I were walking around the many booths around Quartzsite we found one that was selling aerial pics of the LTV area. One of the had our group in it. The pic was taken Friday 1/20 around 9am so if you were here by then your rig is in the pic.
I brought the 5x7 print back & Helaine scanned it for me.
Post here are 2 pics one has the complete print & the other is cropped to just show our group.
I also have the full res pic posted on my web page & you can download it from there or see me to get it.

A couple of photos from the Golf Outing  yesterday at Emerald Canyon in Parker AZ. Course was awesome, in both views and difficulty, as you can see from the photo of Pete teeing off.

Photo of Ron on rocks, was typical of what all four of us encounted more than once during the day!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a few photos taken during the rally.

The first is a shot of the Girl's praying to Ron Ruward for a treat.   No. 2 is a group of us that went on the Ridge Run on Thursday.  We are having out lunch.  The Third shot is sunrise on Thursday.  There have been few clouds this year which has limited the sunrise and sunset photos.

Wind this morning was 25-30mph and the dust was really blowing so your timing wasn't too bad. 8) 8)

We are down to seven coaches tonight. Weather is warm and improving - we are all meeting for sausage soup tonight compliments of Karl.

Gee only got to 76 today here at the Ranch in Yuma.  Had a short spell of winds up to 17 mph but didn't last long and wasn't bad at all.  Of course SEVERE CLEAR prevailed with no chance of improvement. ;D ;D

I think maybe Mike and Windy headed the wrong direction. ;D ??? ??? ;D :D ;)

Wendy,
I took 7 loads of laundry to laundramat today.  Washed sheets , comforter, rugs , blankets and anything that was near a campfire.  Used my new miracle coth to clean mirrors windows. doors . steps, scrubbed trash cans.  Used lots of water.  Such a treat!!!  Beautiful weather in Yuma and the car still needs a wash. I do wish Quartsite some moisture to keep the dust down.  Where else would we enjoy sitting around with our feet dangling in the dust?

Daisy and I stopped at Gila Bend AFB on the way to Sierra Vista and home.  At every step on the motorhome rugs - the dust fluffed up.  Daisy spent the afternoon and evening vacuuming every thing.  At home the washer and dryer has been going steady for two days.  Got up on the roof of the Dutch Star with a broom and brushed off serveral dustpans of dirt and washed more off.  We are lucky the wind did not really blow at QZ.

It's now called Freightliner, Sterling, Western Star of Arizona and is in Tolleson.  Take the 99th Ave. exit.  It's just south of I-10 on Roosevelt St.  The service manager is Kirk Ault (623-907-6642).  Tell him I sent you.

Yes, they steam cleaned the engine and radiator, and a whole lot more.  About $1440 worth :)

That picture of the Brewers and Penningtons leaving sure shows the dust !! Maybe my 40 degrees (which is actually very, very warm for Colorado in January) and snow ain't so bad after all. Not a bit of dust to deal with, except for what we brough back with us from Quartzsite. As for laundry, I've done 6 loads and haven't even begun on the sheets, comforter, and rugs.....ugh! Maybe the RV Fairies will clean the coach for me before our next outing?

Sure do miss everyone.

That guy has been there for years but his attire keeps getting briefer and briefer.  We used to refer to him as "Loincloth Man".   At this point a loin cloth would make him appear fully dressed! ::)  I can't even think of a suitable (printable?) nickname for him now.

We followed Loincloth Man, AKA Bag Man, AKA Sad Sack ( my favorite name for him) to work one day
He rides a bike and he wears his work clothes. Following in our car we were not sure he was wearing anything.
It was not a pretty sight.

Attached is an arial view of the rally site, courtesy of Ron Marabito. I'm not sure exactly when this was taken, but some rigs had obviously come and gone.

Here's a great panoramic shot that Ron Marabito took of the coaches on the north side.

I screwed up and didn't copy the south side from Ron's flash drive. Hopefully we can get it added.

Looks like it might be during the potluck. It's at least Friday afternoon based on the coaches on either side of our Winnebago and the long shadows.
