resetting generator hours

I've never worried about resetting hours on any of our generators, and don't even know if it can be done. I just keep track of the run hours for service intervals.

The Hours meter is to be used for total generator run time, as there is not a reset button for a "trip meter" like there is on automobiles. The only way I know of resetting your gen. meter is to buy a new one.

I just keep a log of the hour meter reading when each maintenance function is performed.
We keep an RV log and one of the columns is for the generator. We include dates, hours run and maintenance costs. The meter is kind of like an odometer when you buy used, you'd like to know how many hours the gen was used so resetting isn't really an option.
