I'm considering buying a 2011 Arcadia AWD or Edge AWD for a TOAD and have confirmed with my dealer that a base plate is available for both. I would like input on both vehicles to help in the decision.

A search on 'Acadia' will turn up a number of prior discussions on that vehicle as a toad.

I tow an Acadia - the very first one ever towed (I have the original prototype Blue Ox base plates on it) and a buddy has an Edge. Both make excellent toads. Chose the one you like the best and don't worry about towing either. The Edge is marginally easier to hook-up - on the Acadia/Enclave/Traverse/Outlook you have to remove a fuse or the battery goes dead. Pretty trivial difference, though.

Gary,
Thanks for the input. I'm leaning more towards the Acadia since it is little larger and has a 3rd row seat.

The seating is the Acadia is marvelous. I recommend the 4 captain chairs + 3rd row bench configuration.  You can carry 6 people, even 6 adults, and still have room for gear behind the 3rd row, Withe the 3rd row bench down, you have a big cargo area, and with both 2nd and 3rd row folded down its a huge flat floor.

The downside is that whenever 6 people want to go somewhere, you will be nominated to drive.
