Last night we stayed with Chris & Mimi at Spotlight 29 in Coachella, CA (very close to Indio). They've segregated an area of their parking lot for overnight RVs. It's blacktop and you park between the truckers and an elevated highway, but it has easy access to/from both I-10 and Hwy 86. RV rules are clearly posted (wish I'd taken a photo), but are minimal. No hookups, no outside fires, 24 hours max stay, but the price is right.

Thanks to Terry for the suggestion.

We used Spotlight 29 before Indio and it works very well. Had a happy hour and it only took about 10 minutes to caravan to the Riverside Fairgrounds. It is an excellent meeting place.

We have used this Indian Casino parking lot and their restaurants for years as a stop over.  I like the casino where you have to use real dollar bill and they have 5 cent "slots."  I played for over an hour for a  small fee, but I had a ball. They also have big name entertainment if you happen to  visit them on special nights.

a non gambler!

Careful, Tom, next thing you know, you'll be spending the night at in a Wal-Mart parking lot  ;)

LOL Betty, we too are non-gamblers and, as you know, Chris doesn't even collect her bingo winnings.

LOL Wendy, I was sure Smoky would have been the first to say that.

Smoky, it would have been a real hoot if the lot was adjacent to a WalMart lot. I can imagine me posting a photo showing the two lots, with our coach in the casino lot but right at the edge, and a message saying "WM is not for us"  ;D

LOL Tom!

Somewhere on this forum I posted a picture aimed through the window of our coach and outside the window was a sign that said "Compact Cars Only" or something similar.  We parked there (I believe on a WM) and I later saw the sign and had to take that picture.  ;D  Of course we picked up and moved to a more acceptable spot.  ;D
