And the rally goes on....
The line up is growing for the Desert Derby with last minute entries by the  day.  The  Post time is  4 pm on Thursday 1-27 plus or minus  50 minutes.  Wagering may be held at the green checkered table.    Gather up your quarters! This race may only last 60 seconds but we hope you have had fun for weeks in the planning and anticipation.  Big hats will prevail .  I am so pleased with the participation.  Special thanks to  Paul for providing markers for the race track called Bud Light Lime beer cans. And then Lucy went and filled them with sand  during Happy hour for our flag  markers. This event is turning out to be BIG.

Here is a nice silhouette of a couple coaches, our dishes, flagpoles and sunset.  Gives the essence of roughing it in the desert.

Betty,

We are so disappointed that we can't be there to participate for the Derby. Is there a possibility that we can wager on line ? :'(

Pat and I want to thank whomever for moving our rocks.  Sorry we can't be there this year but Great Grand Ma has to get her GGrand kid fixes this spring!!  She now has 8!!  :)

Maybe next year.

Sorry we won't make it at all this year. Too many people on the mend at one time here in Yuma. Jim, I did here from your friend Rod Knutson though, Thanks for the kind words!!

Hi to all RVForum participants and Lurkers!  Caution  results of this race activity  may be beyond PG 13.

The RVForum Desert  Derby  of 2011 is over.  Thanks to the para mutual " betting system" manned by Jeff and Sue, we have lots of winners, (and a few losers).  The 4 horses  in the running today  were Bling Bling, Happy Hooker, Viagra and Cialis. Sorry but Going Postal did  not make the race paperwork in time and had to scratch!  Wally led the Parade lap with pride and a  little dance typical of his participation.  Jerry was our announcer extrodinaire.  All the ladies  were adorned with  hats befitting " The Derby".  Best dressed Couple went to Smokey and Sharon.  He actually wore a suit! Smokey also  contributed all of his winnings to the  RV Forum as did many others!  You shoulda been there!

I saw lots of flash bubs going off in my face before during and after the event so I'm sure photos will follow when our  speeds are faster!

Bling Bling  won top honors today.  Rolf and Ann were the winning Horse Whispers and Rider.  She took him by the reins , with an early lead and they won by a  length. Second Place honors went to a crowd favorite,  Happy Hooker ridden by  Randy and Liza. ( OK so this  race was a little fuzzy as to who did what.)

Third place went to the Viagra team ridden by Tarri and Sharon.  The little blue outfit  by Sharon was  exquisite and in line with her sponsor.  I had $ on them as a team.

Last place, NO NO sorry  3rd place runner up went to the GUY team of David and Bob  sponsored by Cialis who just "waited for their moment"  to  take the lead. Check with them in 4 hours for  actual results. This event hit the objective to create laughs.  This  laughter is designed to  make us younger and healthier! All of the Thank You's will be made in a separate post!

Ok RVForum Members,

I will realize , that like theAcademy Awards, I have only 60 seconds to thank the world for my  honors.
So quickly, I would like to thank those who contributed to my motivation to "do" this  Quartsite Entertainment event this year.  Number one Motivator was Margi who  mentioned on Forum a recollection of the Events I have done in the past.  Her kind words of Memory Making Experiences challenged me to to do this agian! ( Make a fool of myself with outrageous activities)

Secondly I thank  my silent  partner, Lucy who inspired me with  notions of her  Good Sam Club who had and event with Golf Carts and Blind folded drivers. Lucy generously donates prizes, mops, and then again even more horse entries!  She is my shopping idol. This  woman remains  my hero and inspiration.  Deep breath...

Next I would like to thank my husband who allows me  the time to make simple  meatloaf sandwiches the  evening meal so I can devote  my time to  planning. His job is also to fix the problems of  other RVForum  members, be it techinical or medical so I don't harrass him with  roles in the show.

Final thanks goes to contributors for prizes, props and personality.  Lucy buys stuff at sales, Sue purchased $5 worth at  the  $1 store and wanted to  return items after  our event.( Good Planning)  Bill W. donated  inspirational  book marks from Grand Canyon  Association to winners and losers of our race.  Every membr who attended this RVForum rally was a wonderful sport.  We  had the good fortune to  share this day with Dan who celebrated his  71st birthday.  May we all live as long as he  has!  Janine set off the smoke  alarm in Miller's coach lighting candles  on his  big 71  cake.

So thanks to all for another wonder RVForum event.

Thank you, Miss Betty, and all who participated, for a job well done and for providing us with many new and fond memories. While I've only been to the last 2 Quartzsite get togethers, I'm sure that this year has to be one of the best ever and will give all of us the desire and motivation to plan to be here again next year.

Wow, I'm really sorry I'm missing all the fun!  My work finally finished up, will anyone be around when I arrive back in QZ Saturday morning?

Sounds as though, you all are having a wonderful time.  Wish we were there.  I heard a lot of cheering for birthdays at 71 and that is terrific.  How about the one I have coming up at 79 celeb rated normally the 29th of February.  I'll have to settle for 28th or March 1st this year.  Hope a few of you going to Death Valley will still be around later in the month when we arrive.

Jerry and Ardra,  will you be around home in early March?  Shirley and I need to be back at White Sands about the 16th of March for a photo shoot.

Congratulations to Betty for another outstanding program at QZ.

Lou, you'll be in time for the potluck Saturday.  Looking forward to seeing you.

Oh My God!!! Does this mean I am no longer old enough to collect Social Security?

Betty!

Thanks for a wonderful Derby event!

We hope this becomes an anual tradition at QZ.  Next year I (Smoky) plan to bring my sterling silver mint julep derby cup and a good supply of mint.  It was a beautiful day yesterday and worthy of any Derby Day.  From now on, every time we watch the Kentucky Derby on television we will be comparing their weather and attire to our weather and attire at QZ.  I am sure Louisville will be put to shame every year!

If anyone has any questions about their camera I am in the old Allegro motorhome. Or if you are interested in going out shooting together just come on down.

Tom how long are you going to stay at Quartsite? I have had to work every Saturday but will have the weekend of Feb 5Th.
off. I was not going to make it this year but if you are there I would drive up for that weekend if you would be so kind to
help me out with my camera. I'm going to Hawaii in a couple of weeks and would love to get a crash course from you :D

Betty - Bless your heart for thanking me, of all people, for your motivation!  You're just as sweet as ever.  Sounds like you all had a rip roaring time.  I can hardly wait for the pictures!

My $40 pass expires 2-2 so I will be leaving on the first or the second. I am going to Tucson from here and will be spending the next three months there getting prepared for my around the country tour. I hope we can meet up sometime so I can help you out.
