Had the wiring kit put in to use the 09 Honda CRV as a toad - stop/turn lights sync with MH. About to get a supplemental brake system  (Brakemaster) but does it require additional wiring work / kit as indicated in the install instructions or is that just if its not there already?

I don't understand the half of how it works but the only thing I can see that might require additional wiring work is that the brake peddle would be depressed - does that trigger a circuit completion that wouldn't otherwise exist causing issues without additional work???

Thanks....Greg

You didn't specify the type of motorhome pulling the CRV.  We have air brakes on our Monaco DP and the setup for the auxiliary brake system uses air for the toad braking so your answer depends on what kind of motorhome you have.

Any brake system that works by pushing or pulling on the brake pedal should have an indicator in the motorhome that tells when the brake has been activated.  This is most easily done by using a transmitter actuated by the brake light wire from the brake pedal switch, sending a signal to a receiver in the motorhome that lights a lamp on the dash.  This is the only positive way of indicating a brake failure that locks the towed brakes, and any of the brake units can fail in that mode.  It's rare, but if it does happen, you want to know immediately.
