we need to replace the switch box for the headlights.  Problem what is the trick to removing the knob on the pull switch?  Fleetwood Discovery '97.

They get really creative.  Look really, really close with a flashlight.  You might find something.  Try posting on a Ford or GM truck site.  Seems like I had a Chevy that something had to come off the back end of the shaft (behind the switch) then the shaft pulled out of the switch.
Good luck.

If its a ford base unit there is a small pin on the backside that needs to be pushed as you pull out the switch. The knob and the post its attached to will come out of the switch.

If it is a Chevy, which I think Fleetwood uses, reach behind the dash and you will feel  a TIT on the bottom of the switch.  Push that HARD and pul the knob and shaft  out HARD.  May take a bit of working at it, but the knob and shaft should come out.  You can then unscrew the face plat which is around the shaft and the switch will be free.  Take it to your local auto parts store and match it up.  Should be from a 73 Chevy truck.  Be careful as there are two different switches.  Make sure you get one with the same number  of terminal connections.
