I've got an older Garmin GPS unit that I've had for about 3 years.  On occasion, it would completely lose its satellite signal (usually in the midst of giving me directions).  More than once I've missed an off-ramp because the satellites went bye-bye.

If I took the unit outside, it worked perfectly.  There seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to why sometimes it would work, and other times it would go for hours with no signal.  That is until my last trip.  We were running with the generator on and again, I lost the GPS signal in the middle of Atlanta.  I happened to look up in my overhead compartment and saw my Blu-Ray player was on (we were running on generator for the AC).  I had my wife turn the Blu-Ray OFF and instantly my signal returned.

I feel stupid.

There is a real concern about one of the emerging 4G internet services causing interference with the GPS signals.  The DOD is looking at it very closely.
