Toms...... Waltzing Across Walmart
« on: February 27, 2006, 11:28:13 PM »
Staying at a WalMart lot,
pretending it's not for long.
I'm on a long haul trip,
no time to find a campground.
Put out the fake grass & BBQ,
then lawn chairs and slideouts.
But it's alright now,
I tell the story well.
I can't convince everyone,
but I convinced myself.

Modifyyyyyyed

Staying on a Wal-Mart Parking lot
Camping right here in my favorite spot

Pretending its not gonna be for so long
But with the price of fuel I may make it home

I pulled in here on a long haul trip
A crowded  campground I won't miss

Just bring out the BBQ and the fake grass
The slides and the chairs and sit on your ___

But it's ok, it's allright
All of Toms rowdy friends are campin at Wal-mart tonight

He tells his story like a mighty man
But he can't rhyme, worth a ___

See you at Wal-Mart...Tom
Cliff

LOL Cliff, I thought you were the composer. The unmodified version looked like it might fit "Garden Party", but your modified (rhyming) version might better fit "Baby you can drive my car" (can't recall the correct name of that song).

But Tom has to sing it!!

I already sang at a forum rally to entertain the crowd (duet with Dee Reed). It's someone else's turn.

Doesn't count Tom we were not there and so many others weren't either.  I cast my vote for you to sing Waltzing Across Walmart as part of the Moab entertainment ;D ;D.

Ron, you can take your turn to sing at Moab. If enough guys sing, my turn might come again. Keep an eye open for Cliff's announcement of the recorded song and start parcticing  ;D

Well, we did at the Plymouth rally, although it was a bit of stretch. Dee was so many octaves higher than me and her then-husband Larry had to change all kinds of stuff on his keyboard to accomodate my base.

I really want to hear Ron sing. After all, he and Sam lived for some time in Japan, so they must at least be familiar with karaoke. Maybe a Ron/Sam duet (?)

Well Tom I know of which I speak and you don't really want to hear Ron even attempt to sing.  I won't even begin to contemplate exposing my friends and Framily to such torment.  Ron just thinks too much of the framily to even consider putting them through such misery.

On the other hand we have heard what good singer you are and the talents of Smoky and the Admrial so lets go that direction and make it an enjoyable event. :D

Hey Ron, in karaoke it is not the skill that counts, but the effort!  Should would love to hear you put some effort into some singing!   ;D ;D

How right you are Smoky. I don't buy Ron's "I can't sing" story. Some of the worst singing I've ever heard was in karaoke bars in Japan. Singing in tune is definitely not one of the requirements.

Absolutely Tom!  And did you notice that sometimes the longest and loudest applause went to the energetic out of tune guy?

...the longest and loudest applause went to the energetic out of tune guy?

The Oriental guy who was voted out of the American Idol contest last year was brought back and went on to make a CD. Here's one guy who can't get a single note right.

Ron san, come on down!

I loved that Oriental guy!  As I recall he sang, "She bangs!"   And he was voted out by the panel.  The popular vote by the American public did everything they could to keep him in the running.  Ron might be another "She bangs!" man!!   ;D ;D
