We have only been on two trips since we purchased our 33ft tourcruser. However we ran our generator most of the time because of the ac. I know this has to be an impact on the  MPG on the 460 which is averaging 6.6. Does anyone have any knowledge on per hour consumption on a 7000 kohler  generator? Thanks for any help.

Here is the spec's on one 7kw Kohler -

Gasoline, Lph (gph) at % load
100% 3.56 (0.94) 3.03 (0.80)
75% 2.91 (0.77) 2.65 (0.70)
50% 2.38 (0.63) 1.93 (0.51)
25% 1.97 (0.52) 1.51 (0.40

I also have a 7kw Kohler (not sure which model) but it is in a '83 Admiral. These numbers seem a little high to me based on very limited use so far.

Wow! Those numbers are scary. Maybe I need to get a 5 gal. can and a clock and work it out. However if this the case the old 460 must be better on gas than I give it credit for.  Thank you guys for your comments.

The units on that Kohler web site are metric.  Use Frank's numbers, those are directly from the data sheet.

28 gal/hr has to be wrong. The old 460 doesn't use that much!

According to the 7ER spec sheet, the 3.56 is in liters per hour (lph); in gallons per hour it is 0.94, or 1 gph in round numbers.  That is consistent with other brands and models of generators in this size range,

Gasoline, Lph (gph) at % load

Load%  Lph  Gph
100%  3.56 (0.94)
75%    2.91 (0.77)
50%    2.38 (0.63)
25%  1.97  (0.52)

I know this might sound odd since your MH has a built in genny but I am going to buy a Honda Companion 2000i http://www.hondapowerequipment.com/products/modeldetail.aspx?page=modeldetail&section=P2GG&modelname=EU2000i%20Companion&modelid=EU2000IKN1  I know buying a $1200 generator seems like a lot considering all the gas you need to burn to get your money back but I am justifying it because I dont have a back up home generator yet and I intend to use this at my house as well.
This unit is really nice because it has a 30amp plug in it that you can connect right to your MH.  Just make sure you use this wisely because they are high theft Items.  I plan to chain it to a tree a good distance from my rig when I camp places that dont have shore power.  Living in GA you need to have your air conditioner on because of high humidity.

Here is the specs.

I used a Kill-a-watt meter off a heavy duty extension cord to figure out what each thing in my MH pulls for power.  My AC unit pulls 1200 watts on high under full load with a jump to 1400 watts when it cycles on.  This little Honda should run 5 or six hours on a gallon of gas.  To me this justifys the cost of the generator.  I also will use my MH generator at rest stops and times when i pull over for lunch.  I just like the piece of mind knowing that I dont always have to run up my 7000 watt onan.

Good luck and tell us how it turns out.
