This morning I was driving through the small town of Rio Vista, CA and was pleasantly surprised to see this sign. Thought it might be of interest. Apparently the nearby campground hasn't objected. I already  had a creative alternative for the weekend or I might have been inclined to take them up on the offer. I wonder how they determine if you're a bank customer?

Apologies for the quality of the photo - I had my passenger snap the shot using her cell phone.

When you see the photos, this one might get me labelled as "trailer trash".....

Last night we camped at the Oxbow marina, Isleton, CA. As the sign at the marina entrance clearly states, no motorhomes are allowed in their lots. But, thanks to a sympathetic harbormaster, we camped in their boat trailer storage lot.

We had a great view of the adjacent Georgianna Slough (a connector between the Sacramento and Mokelumne rivers) and even had a 30A electric hookup. All for the princely sum of $0.

Oh yes, I also had 5 bars on my t-mobile air card, although this place is out in the boonies.

BTW all those trees look kinda funny because the marina lost a lot of trees during the December/January storms and they decided to trim and top the remaining ones. The harbormaster explained that, when they were done chipping the branches, they had nowehere to put the mountain of wood chips. So they spread them over the boat trailer storage area.

Well, I do note that the sign says "Customer Parking Only" which means it's short term for the duration of your business with the bank....  But it's nice to see they have parking for something larger than a Ford Escort

That might be one interpretation I suppose. Had I not found the other alternative, I might have been inclined to try this place out. OTOH the police station is only a couple of blocks away and I might have had a rude awakening in the middle of the night.

.... have you given up taking your boat to club meetings?

No, but this was a bit of a different situation. Last night was a birthday party at Oxbow and this morning was a meeting at The Point. I dropped our house guests off at Sacramento airport yesterday morning and it didn't leave much time to get the boat ready and head out to Oxbow via water. So we did the next best thing and took the coach with the Suburban in tow so we could also hop over to Rio Vista for the meeting this morning. I'm glad we didn't go by boat because, when the weather turned overnight, the guys were hastily moving their boats from the guest dock this morning and it wasn't pretty in the high wind.

Do you guys think that maybe the "RV" in the sign stands for "Rio Vista" as in "Bank of Rio Vista"...hmm?

Well I'll be darned. I think you're right Wendy - 'RV' is surrounded by 'B' and looks like it's part of their logo. Glad I had an alternative for the night  ;D

BTW my passenger who took that photo is a loan officer with a different bank but, like me, she thought it meant RV parking.

I have never figured out how to do that.

Neither have I, which was one reason I had our friend snap the photo and email it to me.

That's how you get it out of the phone. You email it to yourself. I think there is some second party software to allow you to download it from the phone to your computer but it is my understanding that it's pretty easy to mess up your phone's software if you're not real carefull.

Hi Don,

I haven't even bothered to figure out how to email photos from my phone to myself. Fact is, I don't use the camera feature on my phone. I tried to buy the equivalent phone without the camera, but couldn't at the time. If I tried to take a photo, the after-market leather case would block the camera lens.

Figuring out how to E-mail a phone snapped photo to yourself depends on the phone.  For example, having lost my Nokia 6110 somewhere near Page Arzonia, I obtained a new phone Nokia 6101.  This one, unlike my other, is a camera phone (Seems they all are these days)

To E-mail a photo I snap it, choose OPTIONS, choose E-mail and enter an address, that's about all there is to it

For Sam's LG6100 phone Data pilot will transfer photos to the computer.? The same program is suppose to work with my Motorola E815 Data Pilot does not work with the E815 transfering photos even though they advertise that it will.? The Motorola E815 has the option to install a micro memory card which I did. All I have to do is save the photos to the micro card then remove the card and insert it into the adaptor that came with it and transfer the photos using a card reader.? We very seldom have use the photo feature on the camera but it was convenient getting the Alpha in the parking lot the other day.

That's a good example of how we should always be able to grab that Kodak moment. It rarely occurs to me to pull out the phone and snap a photo. OTOH I usually have my small digicam on my belt. The one time I needed it and didn't have it was when my passenger snapped that photo with her phone on Sunday morning.

We probably wouldn't have opted for the camera phones but thats what cam with the phone we got. Have used it a couple times.

Email the photo to myself?  Hmm!  Never thought of that!  Hope the learning curve is not to bad on emailing from the VX6100.
