Estelle and I will not be attending Moab this year, and I am offering our reservation site, R-34 to any forum member as to not loose it to an outsider.

Bob, we're sorry you won't be able to make it because I know you really were looking forward to it.  Hope all your rig problems get fixed so you can get on the road.  If anyone wants site R-34, call Portal so someone else doesn't take the site.

Someone from the framily is interested but wants a full hookup site, I'm in the Elec=Water area. Is the dump site easy to use? Wiould they put someone on 1st hookup available list?

Losing the main seal between the Cummins and the Allison before leaving Tucson prompted the completing of the chassis service incl air filter. I now am good for 15k on the oil, 23k on the trans. Once that was ready to roll I hooked up the towd, disconnected the drive shaft and came home. I spent 2nts in Columbus seeing the Anglican bishop for this area and completing tax info for my CPA and headed home.

When I arrived, the drive shaft would not reconnect. >:( :( :'(

The Nissan is now at the shop that set it up for towing removing-saving all that and putting the OEM driveshaft back in. After selling the Frontier Nismo, I will purchase a 4 down, nothing needed, older replacement.

I cannot recommend the driveshaft disconnect for the Nissan Nismo nor the service responsiveness of Flowmaster.  >:( They did not get the part to Lazydays for 37 days. :o Lazydays had it installed the next morning with their excellent service. ;D

Bob Maxwell says he is in a partial hookup site, so that would be "34".  There is no "R34", just "34" and "M34" as I read the map.  But the McRells also say they are in site "34" for the first night, so that sounds like a conflict...

Susan, I originally had you in site 15 on the north side.  Now I have you in M-13 and you're right - there is a conflict with Ray and Liza.  I have Linda & Charlie Peters in site 13 on the north side.  Is anyone in our group in site 15???

RAY AND LIZA - PERHAPS YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR SITE NUMBER WITH PORTAL.

I am keeping another list by site number and will post it before the rally so we can all find one another.

Frank, it's always been there but was Kamping Kabins on the east side and a big overflow grassy area on the western side.  They started putting in the new ownership sites a couple of years ago.  The first year we used them the landscaping wasn't even in yet and some of the sites were muddy around the concrete pads on the "low" end.  Now the pool, pool house, pond, dog run, and landscaping are in and it's quite nice.

Attention Moab 2012 Attendees!

The last few rallies have been much larger than previously and planning was difficult so some of us are thinking it might be a good idea to do some minimal planning ahead.  Chances are good the weather or something else will mean we have to revise it, but at least we might make a start here.

Question:  Is there anything you REALLY want to do while at the rally??  For the new people, perhaps you've never been to Moab and people have told you about some place or event that you would like to see or do.  For the returnees, we all seem to have favorite things, but perhaps there's something you haven't done yet that you've been wanting to do.  For example, last year Wendy and I talked about hiking the Negro Bill Canyon which the group has never done, but we decided there would be mosquitoes so discarded that idea.  Often the person who makes a suggestion ends up taking the lead.  It can be a hike, a four-wheel drive adventure, the Canyonlands By Night dinner and boat ride, horseback riding, river rafting, a chuckwagon dinner, a Red Hat luncheon, or whatever.  We've done them all in the past.  Usually there's one event per day which is often more than enough, especially if it's an all-day drive or longer hike.

For those of you who have never been to Moab, I strongly suggest that you take one day to tour Arches on your own and another day to tour Canyonlands on your own.  They're different from one another and you probably don't want to go home and tell your friends you didn't take the drives in both parks.  We'll probably take a hike or two or three in Arches and we'll probably take some 4WD adventures in Canyonlands, but the regular drives on the paved roads are quite different from what we'll be doing and you get an entirely different perspective.

Please provide some feedback on what you want to do while in Moab.  Not everyone wants to do everything and that's fine, but we would like to preplan some group activities which can be a lot of fun as well as a way for people to get acquainted.  Comments please!

I'd be up for leading the Negro Bill Canyon hike this year if folks are interested. Just need a little bug spray.

I think we mentioned earlier about having a crockpot potluck.

I'll have to check my Moab books for other stuff...unfortunately they're at home and I'm not until April.

We tried online a few days ago and were able to get site M19, the "last available site" at that time.  Cheryl and I will be there the 13th to the 18th.

This will be our second forum rally.  The first was the SE Fall Rally in 2008.

Frank and others who haven't visited Moab before ...

It's a great place to visit - lots of things to see and do in the area. Attending an RV Forum rally there makes it that much better. Several forum members lead hikes, off-road trips, and other activities. Some forum members have arranged horse riding trips and rafting on the Colorado river.

If this is your first trip, be sure to check out the John Wayne movie museum, downstairs from the restaurant at the Red Cliffs Hotel, a place where the group has held "last suppers'" near the end of the rally.
