I have leaks where the coupling is fused to the tank and I want to repair them without replacing them.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Any advice would be appreciated, thanks for your help.

I used JB Weld epoxy for my old tanks, waterweld I think it was called. Two part putty you roll/knead, then press into place. Had a drip same as you did, held up and didn't leak.

I was under the impression the tank were make of HDPE poly. My experience with poly is heat fusion only by way of its being resistant to chemical fusion. If I'm wrong someone please enlighten me, we have a vast knowledge base on this board.

Tank might well be HPDE poly, but they usually use ABS black plastic fittings for drain lines. In typical RV construction, they simply drill a hole in the tank and set in a flange or other type of fitting.  He will have to eyeball it to figure out how his 83 Travelcraft was constructed.
