2008 Tour - "Water In Fuel" light comes on intermittently. Safe to drive?

I own a 2008 Tour.  The "water in Fuel" light comes on intermittently.  Has anyone else had this problem and what was the cure?  I'm scheduled to go to a Freightliner dealer in a week.
 
On one of the fuel filters there is a petcock on the bottom, loosen it and catch about a cup of the fluid that drains out.  It will probably be some water and the rest diesel.  That should take care of the problem.  Also there are some wires attached, disconnect them and clean with De-Oxit cleaner and that may fix the problem.  These are the 2 most likely problems in my opinon.
