2011 Navion undre couch storage access

Has anyone cvhanged the door to the under couch storage area?  I Would like to put hinges on mine and if someone knows a reason for not doing it I would like to hear from them.
 
If it doesn't have any structural issues with the coauch, go for it. Put up a photo of your mod
 
I think I need to hear from someone who has done this.  Please reply.
