We are planning a trip to New Jersey, southern end for a week.

I'm open to campground suggestions as well as things to do while there. I have done some research, and know there only a few CG's. We are toying with taking the toad since we have had less then desirable experiences with city traffic and parking.

We were thinking a Wildwood/Cape May-ish short vacation since we've never been there and want to add another state to the map on the back of the RV. Mom, Dad, and 2 kids (13 & 15) with a very well behaved dog will be going. Maybe Grandma too, but that has not been decided. This will be August 14 thru 20.

Thanks for any input!

Have you checked out Timberlane RV Park in Clarksboro, N.J.?  Not a bad base to getting around southern Jersey.

We had looked at a couple websites "deeper" in the state, but we could do Philadelphia too.

DW wants to do Wildwood pretty bad. Thanks for the suggestion!

These are in the general Wildwood area. Lots of campgrounds up and down Route 9 in NJ. None are that picturesque (lots of sand and sparse trees), but these tend to have nice folks who stay there:

Big Timber Lake https://bigtimberlake.com/

Ocean View (but I think they have a 7 night minimum) http://www.ovresort.com/

Whipporwhill (closest to Ocean City, NJ) http://www.campwhippoorwill.com/

The Cape May Courthouse Zoo is really cute (and free). http://www.co.cape-may.nj.us/cit-e-access/webpage.cfm?tid=5&tpid=442

Wildwood has a boardwalk, and so does Ocean City, NJ, with lots of food, games and rides, etc. (Ocean City is dry - no alcohol). I'm more familiar with what is "before" Cape May, but everything in that stretch is within about an hour, depending on what shore town you end up staying in. You could also hit Atlantic City (outlet shops and a boardwalk as well). The Rain Forest Cafe in AC is really, really cute (on the boardwalk).http://www.rainforestcafe.com/

If you venture to the Philly area on the NJ side (Camden waterfront), there's the Adventure Aquarium http://adventureaquarium2.reachlocal.net/?utm_source=ReachLocal&utm_medium=CPC; the Battle ship New Jersey (that you can tour) is there too.

Best of luck and have fun!
