Three times, on 102 to 109 degree F days, after stopping engine to eat or refuel, 24 foot long RV with 2008 sprinter turbo diesel and 12 - 16 K miles on it would 1) only run at idle (no response to stepping on the fuel pedal), and 2) would not shift down from D to lower gears (although the dash display showed the lower gears). As a result I had almost no power and could only move at a speed of about 5 miles per hour. Each time, drove the RV slowly around the large parking lot a few times until the engine eventually regained proper control and functioning. Any thoughts on what is going on, or how else to treat this?
