Thats a nice thought to the OP.  I often wondered how many people served in this forum.  Was neat to see all the variety.

Thank you to all who came before me.  I am currently carrying the flag for you all for at least another 4 to 5 years.  I am going up to 20 and we will see how the stripes are falling and if my wife will still be on board for more.

I fly with Jstars out in Warner Robins now and Awacs previously with NATO and the fine folks out at Tinker AFB.

Jstars and Awacs typically get out to the fight right away and that has kept me in just about every conflict/war since 96.

If only we would go to war with someone that has beaches and trees and grass.  I have seen more sand than a lifeguard in the last 16 years and I hope I never see it again after my time is served. :)

Take care all and thanks for identifying yourselves.

Willie,

Thank you for carrying on the torch! This country would not be what it is without the continued support from those that really love it.

Willie,

Just as I was coming up on 26 years I was alerted for a return shipment to Guam. When I told the wife, she allready knew, and informed me that she wouldn't be there when I got back from the assignment. Well so much for 30 years service, I retired at 26.

wow lee.

Well she gave you 20+ years of support.  I think anything you do for 20+ years might get old.  The few times I have been down in my career I sat down and thought of all the good that has happened to me and after a few beers I realized that life is not going to be perfect.  If you can get more good than bad in a career you are doing it right.

Did she stay with you when you got out or was that it?  Hope you dont mid asking just wanted to see how the story ended.

Yesterday was 54 years, so I guess I'll just have to keep her for another 20+ years to make up for all she put up with so far.
By the way, she loves the RV lifestyle. I guess she just got used to moving around every couple of years.

O my... yesterday was your 54th Anniversary? If so, then congratulations.  We have our 22nd in a couple of weeks.  Met DW while I was an MSG, when ever I've had to take off she took-up the slack and was there when I came home.  I definitely owe this woman, she drives me almost as crazy as I drive her.... Would be completely lost without her, that's for sure.

Yup! it would certainly leave a hole in my life. If anything was to happen to her I just don't know how I would cope. As for picking up the slack when sent overseas, I don't know of many Spouses of military personnel who don't deserve all the praise that can be heaped upon them, And a large bouquet of roses quite often as well.
Thank you for the congratulations, The wife certainly deserves them for putting up with me for so long.

20 years (and 3 days, but whose counting) with the USAF.

89-93 consisted of BMT, Tech School (Chanute AFB, IL) and Ellsworth AFB where I met my "Rich Ranch Girl"  ::) and got hitched.

We were out for almost 2 years and then from 1995 to 2011 we moved from Mtn. Home ID, McConnell AFB KS, Fargo, Grand Forks AFB ND back to McConnell.

I drug the wife around for just over 18 years so I guess we are staying put for at least that long in her hometown out on the Prairies of Eastern Montana.

By that time we will have roots as deep as an old Cottonwood and plan on staying put!

AMEN to the military spouse!!! My wife is the best ever. We have been together 8 wonderful years now, I am on my 3rd deployment since we got together and has not complained one time. She does it all when I am gone, I owe her big time.  :D

My hat is off to all who served in our military in the past, present, and in the future.

US Navy 57 to 61 AT2 served with VW-4 better known as the "Hurricane Hunters" out of Jacksonville, FL.
