It is pretty easy. Look at any post by a member and right under the number of posts that the poster has is a row of a few small icons. The one on the left allows you to look at the members profile. The one that looks like a caption balloon is the one for sending a message and the envelope is for sending an email. Click on either one and start typing.
Thanks - I guess if there is no envelope you can't send a message. Kind of figured that was the case:)

The little balloon will send a personal message (PM) The envelope will send and email. Not everyone is showing the email icon because you have to opt in to that one.

Here is the Google map I made of the fairground locations:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=215617306805779620107.0004b1b9b56a356b25606&msa=0&ll=43.612217,-123.00293&spn=18.790283,41.879883

There is a push pin located right on each of the fairgrounds and the pop up box contains the name of the fairgrounds, address, phone number and web site.

I did not proof read everything so if you see an error let me know. If you do the southern California fairgrounds I will add them too, but please use a Google doc. My trial version of Office is just about expired and I am not going to buy it.

Has anyone stayed in Colusa or Gridley?  My DH duck hunts up there at a club but they don't allow MH's...imagine that!  Anyway, it would be nice to take our MH up and stay in either of those towns at the fairgrounds.  I tried looking them up on Streets and Maps but couldn't find them...is there a trick to finding fairgrounds?  I'm putting in "Butte County Fair" and nothing comes up.  Any suggestions?  TIA...Mikie

If you read the post directly above yours you will notice I have made a Google map of all the fairgrounds. Just scroll the list on the left and find Butte County Fair and click on it. It has the name, address, phone number and web site of each fairground.

There's also the Colusa County fairgrounds on Tom's map.

Another good place we have found to stay (at least in Northern CA) is Indian Casinos. We stayed a few days in the Rolling Hills Casino RV lot in Corning, CA right off I-5 a little while back. Very nice pull through sites, full hook ups, and $25 a night.

This map is fabulous! thanks for doing it - very timely for us. And yes, it would be great to have the southern ones also. I think I will print this off and add the casinos where you can park also. Makes for a great tool when planning a route.

Tom, next time you have some spare bandwidth, download Open Office.  It's a free open source office suite that does everything Microsoft Office does.

I tried Open Office and I didn't like it. I prefer to use Google Docs. It doesn't everything Office does except a database and since it is all kept online it doesn't take up room on my computer.

Colusa is a very sweet fairground. The rv hookups are mostly on grass, but it is flat, some have shade. We really enjoyed being there. you have to look carefully to find the sewer dumps.
$20 p.n.
I even saw some people park in the big pole barns, to get the ultimate shade.

seilerbird - a big THANK YOU for the map
it is most appreciated
regards, pdq

The map is great, really makes the campgrounds accessible. A really useful tool. Well done and thanks.

Thanks for responding to my question.  The Map supplied is great, but I was trying to use something else.. Sorry....guess I got confused!  But, I also wanted to know if anyone had specifically stayed at either of those locations since I might try them and wanted a recommendation, which I got.  Thanks again.

A minor correction to the list:

Dixon Fairgrounds (line 14) has the wrong area code.  The correct area code is 707 ....  (707) 678-5529.

I'll be staying there tonight.  Using the 916 area code connects you with an irate person who doesn't speak English.  :(

Thanks for the heads up Lou. I got the area code right on my map so it is just the list that needs updating.

Seilerbird,
Could you add this fairground to the map:
Antelope Valley Fairground, 2551 West Avenue H, Suite 102
Lancaster, CA 93536
