I have a 06 Gulfstream Independence i want to add an electric element to the water heater but i can't figure out how to access it, on the out side if the coach is just the service square with the gas burner exhaust and the anode rod. I need to be able to get to the tank to install the thermostat on the side any one ever had any experience with this. Thanks Kevin

I had to remove mine, it comes out that square opening that the cover mounts to, you will see two or four bolts on the side top and bottom. That loosens the hole thing and it just about comes out. I think if its level it has a quarter inch clearance. When its about half way you can get to the water lines. Make sure you remove the gas line and keep it out of the way. The electric igniter also needs to be cared for.
Good luck,
Jim
