My son is thinking of buying a Honda Pilot to tow a 1900lb cargo trailer, he likes the 2 wheel drive but the rating is 3500 lb's; and if he later buys a heavier trailer
it may be short on ability. The 4 wheel drive has a rating of 4500 lb's and would allow a cushion of safety. I read out west in our mountains we should have a cushion
of 15-20%; meaning a 3500 capacity would be cut by 700 lb's less or 900 lb's less.
Do you know what makes the difference for the 1000 lb's that Honda rates its vehicles, is it greater braking disc. and pads, larger dia. axles, heavier springs. etc.
Thanks for your help.
