Hey How's it going? I have an older RV and the stuff that is covering the ceiling is starting to peel off and crack!!  The wood underneath it is fine! I found the the stuff that is on there now, It's some kind of vinyl and it's like 20 bucks a yard. screw that!! So was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as what to use??  Thanks

Decent quality vinyl is expensive, as you have found. I gather you were looking at vinyl headliner material - that goes for around $20-22 per yard. You can get cheaper vinyl, sometimes as low as $5/yard in quantity, but you get what you pay for.  For around $12-14 per yard you can get some decent stuff, though.  Here are some

Some rigs use a variant of ozite indoor/outdoor carpeting, which is sometimes called "wallcarpeting".

We've had Ozite on several motorhomes.  It lasts a long time and also acts as a sound deadner and insulator.  I should think it would be a lot easier to apply than another type of fabric.
