Hello all,
I have an 07 Hornet 31bhs with a GVWR of about 10,000#.

I found and bought a WD hitch rated for 12,000#.  Am I OK with this or should I look for a 10K hitch?

What symptoms should I be watching for if any.

Thanks,
Don

I'd stick with the 12,000 lb model. The WD hitch should have 2 ratings - 1,200/12,000 - tongue weight/gross weight. If you are loaded right up to the Hornet's 10,000 lb GVWR and are at the recommended 12% tongue weight, you'd be over the 1,000/10,000 bar's rating.

I think the actual recommendation is 12% - 15% tongue weight and my TT has a 10,400 lb GVWR so I went with 1,400/14,000 bars to be safe. There is some argument that this set up would be inefficient if my tongue weight is on the light side but so far so good.

Thanks Joe,
Thats kinda what I was thinking but was not sure.

You may be able to get different bars for your hitch based on the tongue weight.  I know with my WD hitch different bars were an option.
