As I said in an earlier post, I removed my old Rock Hard spare tire carrier and installed the Teraflex JK HD Hinged Carrier and adjustable spare tire mount.  The hinged carrier is very substantial and makes it much easier to get into the back of the jeep.  The new tire mount is flush against the back gate.  With the removal of the old heavy spare tire carrier which had the spare over 6" off the back of the jeep the center of gravity is also a little better.

I did need a 1.5" spacer in order to mount the spare tire.

In addition to the easy of entry, the rattling from the old carrier is gone.  :)

Here are several pics and one of my jeep after the install.

I have acquired a 2011 Wrangler Rubicon.  I bought it on line.  I pick it up from my Brother in Dallas in March
when we return to Oklahoma.  We will make a trip down to retrieve it.

I had one (I thought) a 2009 purchased at Tucson, but upon my arrival the seller decided he would keep it
and tow it behind his Phaeton part time.  I was disappointed but kept searching.  AutoTrader found this one
and after a few discussions with the Internet Sales Manager, It is now mine.

I look forward to trying to Keep up with Terry, Henry, Frank, Mike and others in Moab.  First order of business
will be a step so Loretta can get into it, and then a lift kit so we can get over the road.  We're excited to have
a new toy.

Photo taken off AutoTrader so it's probably not the best.  More detailed photos when I get my hands on it.

Hi,
We also bought sight unseen and had the mods made before we saw it (except for a Teraflex 2.5-inch lift).
Ernie

Ernie,
How do you like the lift?  How's it ride?  We're thinking of getting a 2.5 lift with 35" tires and are wondering how it will compare to our stock ride.

Thanks in advance,
Mikie

Here is my 2013 JK. Added a 2.5" Rock Krawler X-Factor lift, 35 inch Goodyear MT/R's. AEV bumper with Warn 9.5CTI winch. ARB compressor. TeraFlex skids and spare tire carrier. Hi-Lift jack. SpiderWeb shade. Bestop Element doors. Blue Ox towbar. TrakArmor seat covers.

Currently has 3.73 gears with Dana 30 front. I have a Dynatrac ProRock 44 front axle with 4.56 gears and ARB locker on order and should arrive next week. Then I will regear the rear to 4.56 and add another ARB, plus replace both drive shafts with 1310 units.

I started with a 2.5 lift with 35" tires.  Then I put armor underneath the Jeep and lost some clearance.  At the suggestion of Dennis at TeraFlex, I put on 3" springs and now somewhere between 2.5" & 3".  I like the 3" a little better than the 2.5".

Great pix all!

Love the buggies except you need to raise the bar on trail difficulty to be challenged.

Unfortunately yes.  I built it myself so a lot of the challenge was the build.  Having it make hard trails feel easy was rewarding instead of challenging...but to find hard trails means a long drive.

I've taken it to Johnson Valley four times and run most of the Hammer trails and many less known trails.  My toughest day ever was up Wrecking Ball, down Clawhammer, up Big Johnson, and down Boulderdash.  I haven't wheeled in a year--my hobbies seem to be cyclical--currently focusing on hockey, mountain biking, and rafting.

Awesome!!!  I love buggies.  My son and I have kicked around some ideas of building one for a couple of years but I am spoiled now and have gotten used to my heat and air conditioning and the wife won't give up her heated seats. 8)  Oh well, maybe some day when I hit the lottery.

We did a pre-run of Top of the World trail a few days ago (Moab) and it was cold (~50s) with 20-25 MPH winds and at the top it started snowing on us  :P  ::) .

The heater sure felt good.

If you would have been two weeks earlier, it would have been a different situation - I got snowed on when we pre-ran Top of The World trail  ::).
