Unfortunately, Cheryl and I will not be able to make it.  We've had some health issues that are keeping us closer to home through October.

Gary,
We really wish we could make it, but with all the rallies we have attended this year and mostly in the WEST,  this one won't work for us.  But I do thank you and Nancy for your continuing dedication to holding East Coast rallies.  It keeps our RVForum  personal and friendly !

Gary:

All the east coasters are out around Yellowstone. ;D

We would love to be there to see old friends but are in Colorado headed in the wrong direction.

Mary Ann and I are in Salem, OR, around 3000 miles from the rally site, but we are still talking about trying to make it there.  We still have a couple of interim stops we have to nail down.  These will determine whether we can get there in time.

Will post if/when we confirm our reservations.

You know, if you Americans for the next election, whenever that may be held, made sure that important issues like "how long tourists can visit" came to the forefront, as opposed to those non relevant issues, just then maybe Canadians like us could come down early enough to join you for these Rallies and still be down long enough that we won't have snow/bad weather when we get home.   ;)

Ed,
When I was a young lad I trapped along the US/Canada border. In Northern Minnesota. There was a family that was kind to me. The house was on part of the US and part on Canada. They never had to spend 6 months in one part of the house. Also how do the hockey players spend a 9 or 10 month spell in the US. Seems the laws are backward. Still would be nice to meet and greet.

I guess I'm too old to become a professional hockey player, besides they're locked out now, which is another sore point with most Canadians. >:(

Ed

PS:  Another aside is that, I'd need to learn how to skate in order to play hockey, and that would mean being on ice, and I've vowed not to be anywhere near snow or ice, other than in a glass.

If you are a Canadian citizen in good standing, you can qualify for a special visa to attend RV Forum rallies in the USA.  Just ask about it at any US consulate and mention my name - I'm sure they will tell you where to go.  ;)

I think we would have a better chance of having a friendlier administration elected than having border guards and IRS staff give special dispensation.  Or as a former boss of mine used to say, we would have as much chance of accomplishing that as we would have keeping the tide back using a pitch fork.  Oh well, maybe someday we will be the way we were prior to 1921, but I'm not holding my breath.

Its a sore spot with us too, If I couldn't skate I would have been house bound as a kid. However, I took the same pledge no snow for me, not even for the Grands and that is saying something.

We are planning to be there, however I do not have reservations.

What day are you arriving and what day are you leaving.

From the published information I am confused. However it doesn't take much to get me that way. :(

Wayne,
The "official" start day is 10/22 and the official end/departure is 10/26. We will probably arrive at the park the night beforehand, and I'm pretty sure some others will be in a day or so early as well. I'm pretty sure we will depart on 10/26 because we need to get home to Ocala for some doctor & dentist appointments.

You know how casual these affairs are - come when it is convenient and stay as long as you like.

Nancy & I always provide a meal for the rally people on the first night (Monday). Haven't figured out just what it will be yet - maybe just burgers and dogs on the grill, but I wanted to let you all know that between Happy Hour snacks and whatever we decide to make, you won't need to worry about fixing your own dinner on Monday night.

Hi Gary,
wife brought aup a couple questions.  can you tell us is there is a plan??
you mentioned the first night, other nights pot luck?   appetizers?
just trying to plan.  she also asked if there are any knitters so if anyone is
reading thats a knitter, it'd make her day
thanks,

Our rallies have very little planning - it's more like a bunch of friends camping together and making up the plan as we go along. Most of us gather each day around 4 pm for a Happy/Social Hour (or two!) and folks typically bring appetizers as well as their favorite beverage. There are sometimes so many snacks that an actual dinner is unnecessary!

We typically have a potluck one night and go to a restaurant another night. And there are often enough leftovers from the potluck for a second one.  You probably won't have to plan on any evening meals on your own.

Sometimes folks roam around in the a.m. and have coffee in hand, and maybe a danish or something as well. Sort of an impromptu coffee klatch.

Rick, don't let Gary fool you.  We've been to a couple of Rallies that he organized, and while nothing is cast in stone, he and Nancy have plenty planned, which you may or may not participate in.  In any event, we have never been to any Forum Rally that we didn't thoroughly enjoy.  Just go with the flow and don't let the westerners fool you into thinking that western Rallies are any better, you know they'll try.

We don't make plans or a rally agenda, Ed. Just suggestions that most everybody seems to like!  ;D

Especially for things like dinner and restaurants. The ladies talk among themselves and decide what they want to do and I just nod my head north and south at the appropriate times.
