Sarge and Dianne:
Can't thank you enough for the the 'blog.' We've been following every word, laughing along with you and feeling your 'pain' over the challenges! You've certainly helped give us the courage to try this adventure next year! Maybe we'll meet on the road, if not-- then here on the forum for sure, as we try our own hand at seeing this great place called the US in our RV!  Much appreciate your sharing!

Thanks for the kind words.  The blog actually helped us a lot by making us feel that we were not on the adventure alone.  Having a place to share the upsides and the downsides was good therapy!

Wow, great comparison Betty.  Goes to show how things have went up.  It's still a doable trip, you just have to plan accordingly. But 6 years of price increases can make a difference.

Thanks for the daily journal. It's been a fun read because we're planning to head up I-25 toward Canada by next mid June and to return via Washington/Portland by late Aug. 2013.

Like you, we'll do mostly campgrounds, eat in most of the time and keep one or two journals. We also travel with little water int he tank and refill at 1/2 full or sooner. Our range will be about (14 mpg x 22 gall of 26 gal capacity) = 308 miles.
At most, our range will be 15 x 26 gal = 390 miles, I'm thinking/hoping. No toad for us.

Still planning.

Good deal, just remember the hot tip from earlier in the journal.  If you are going up the Alaska highway, fill up in Fort Nelson.  Then try to make it to Contact Creek.  There is a little privately owned store and filling station there that has reasonable prices on gas.  If you hit either of  the locations on either side of Contact Creek, they will hose you for over $7.50 a gallon.

Thanks for the trip summary..we have so far been in Canada and Alaska 77 days but it will be into September before we arrive back in the lower 48.  I'll put a summary of our costs together when we arrive back in Bakersfield.  We are currently at 4600 miles for Canada and Alaska.  We should have an interesting comparison
