Not sure how many RVers have had their gas/electric water heater refuse to heat in either mode but the one in my 2004 Meridian has done so twice in the last two years. The first time I hunted up a mobile RV repairman in the area (no shops within 65 miles) and purchased a set of new thermostats for the outside of the heater since I could by-pass them with a paper clip and the heater would light. When I told him my problem and up-coming fix he said to be sure all the posts on the thermostats were corrision free. I cleaned them with a finger nail file board before installing the new thermostats and it started working fine. Did so until today, so our came the nail file board and 5 minutes later it was lighting again, and if it lights on propane it seems to always work on 110V.
Just thought this tid-bit might save someone else from frustration, showering with cold water (which my wife did this morning), and maybe a lot of expense.
