When I look at Ford's towing guide for these two trucks, they're rated the same GCWR (23,000) and the same maximum loaded trailer weight. I know the F250 is 3/4 ton and the F350 is a one-ton. Is there a reason to buy the 350 over the 250?

Thanks,

Linda

PS: We bought the 2005 Alfa.  ;D

The F-350 will give you more PAYLOAD, meaning you can carry more in the bed of the truck.  The total weight, or max towing weight may remain the same, but you'll have more room to play for the weight you put in the bed of the truck.  Realistically, this means you could have a heavier 5th wheel with a heavier pin weight with the 350 as opposed to the 250.  But you'll need to get the exact numbers for the specific truck, i.e., long bed/short bed, 4 doors/2 doors, 4x4/4X2, etc.  All that has bearing on the weight figures.

Thank you, Ed. We've decided on a 2008 F350 4x4 SRW diesel crew cab. Thanks, too, to whomever gave the Top 10 Used Diesel link on one of the other forums.
